Eastern HS Students Implicated In Recdnt Calitol Hill Crimes

Armed robbery at knifepoint is a "passing phase"? I don't remember that part of my high school years.

So what is an acceptable punishment in this case?

NP. Flash mobbing a convenience store is basically an adolescent prank. Maybe a weekend of community service scrubbing graffiti off a railroad overpass for them.

Armed robbery is a serious matter, however.

This happened on Barracks row...one of the heaviest traveled and police areas in this city? Must happened when this 7-11 was out of doughnuts and coffee [sarcasm] It would have to be impossible for this to have happened during school time. Students are creatures of habit...many don't cut school in volumes during the day? Now if this happened once school has let out or after a night football game then again, somewhat probable. That specific area; police would have known when to increase their police presence, so this is probably a farce. If true, then the media would have been all over this item - slow news week.

Some YOU CAN some do know that their kids may not be going to school each day or hooking class but the others of parents who make sure their kids go to school or literally drop them off and watch them walk in the building how would you really know. And ask yourself how many off you parents as kids not went to school or cut school without your parents knowing what happened. It takes a village to raise kids now and nowadays some adults don't want to get involved because some of these kids may threatened them or harm them because of the lack of respect the kids have.

Actually, this one is easy. I'm now getting a call every time my kid is marked absent from even just a period. No excuse on that front! Sure, some may have missed the boat telling their kids off or may be altogether absent even receiving those calls. Then it's up to the authorities and the rest of us to step it up. Still no excuse. However, what's important to keep in mind before screaming "lock them out" or "lock them up" is that research shows - for a vast majority of them - criminal behavior is a phase. Not one should be shrugged at but one that needs to be treated as something in passing and in need of redirection, not mass incarceration and further criminalization. If we don't get that, then we'll actually help perpetuate the problem.

Too much emphasis on the punishment and not enough on the prevention.

Truthiness is overcome by fact.

Where can I get one of these derby hats for my Uppababy? It sounds delightful and surely will be all the rage amongst the Brigade.

Flash mobbing a bus and injuring a driver is a prank. Clas mobbing a convenience store and stealing stuff is a prank. Armed robbery is a phase. I guess kids will just be kids and that IB programme will round off the rough edges. What else do we have to look forward to?

Dawn Price carries them. They donate a percentage to the Eastern IB programme.

I understand some of your point what does the IB program has to do with this?

Because they are proud Eastern students?

They wanted to make sure that Wilson students didn't try and take credit?
