| OP here. Thanks for the feedback!! We've been to Rio and LOVE it, so we wanted to try somewhere new. We're totally open to other ideas, smaller towns. Anything you would note for a traveling pregnant woman? |
I was pregnant in SA. Be careful eating anywhere. I had a MC while living in Bolivia due to food poisoning, so its a real threat. Don't go anywhere near high altitude either. We loved northern Brazil, Jeri was amazing look it up. I also love Peru but not Lima so much. Colombia is also lovely and might be your best safe bet. Good luck. |
| Another vote for Colombia: Cartagena, Medellin, or Bogota. |

I would Say Buenos Aires. We also LOVED Mendoza - but being pregnant you couldn't enjoy the Malbec. Great restaurants and wine there.
I know you said SA - but if you want a great urban Latin American experience I recommend Mexico City. I lived there for several years and it's amazing. |

If you are pregnant I would avoid Lima/Cusco because of the altitude and food. I have an iron clad stomach and had tons of travelers diarrhea there and the altitude takes a bit to adjust to. But, while I was hiking Machu Picchu I did see a pregnant lady hiking the 4 day trail - she was at least 3-5 months along.
Bogota is a great and interesting city but also at a higher altitude - just something to think about. Cartagena was too hot for me - but I'm quite sensitive to heat. Buenos Aires I love but I'm a bit biased since I spent 6 weeks there. So much to do see and eat. |
