+1, that's apart of growing up. I try on many different sizes and styles within the same brand sometimes to find the right clothes.

OP here - thanks for those that stuck to the question and provided helpful advice. What we've now discovered after trying on various styles and companies is that high waisted works, a little stretch helps.

We haven't tried Old Navy Curvy yet or some of the other good suggestions - thanks for that. We found really great denims and khakis at Ann Taylor, and they had a lot of cute tops, too, that are teen-appropriate, so that's now a destination on the list.
