Gone Girl

Anyway, I thought the movie was alright, but the book was better at mindf***ing the reader.

I read that the director of Gone Girl said that Affleck was quietly amazing at the subterfuge it takes to cheat on someone -- like look at a text without drawing too much attention to it. So, yeah. Good casting.

Poor Jennifer, I wonder if she saw some red flags when watching it.

Agree with much of what you said, but didn't mind the cursing at all, as I curse a shit-ton myself, and just want to give props to Neil Patrick Harris for his role, which he performed amazingly!

NP
I curse too but I agree the sister used "fucking" as an adjective and it was unnecessary.

"Part I" was pretty boring, I almost gave up on it. Also while the twin sister was interesting every line she said had the word "fuck" or "fucking" in it and it became really distracting and inauthentic.

"Part II" when we see what Amy actually did it got a lot better and I got much more into it.

"Part III" With Desi seemed to be an entirely different movie and I feel it was far too condensed and left too much out about their past.

"The End" The plot holes made me nuts. But besides all of that the fact that we are supposed to believe she got away scott free, when there were cameras in the lake house and other evidence made me annoyed.

The book does a much better job of describing this part. Otherwise, I felt for a movie adaptation it was pretty accurate to the original novel.

Couldn't see past Ben Affleck as Ben Affleck.

I hated this book, the story was a great and adventurous ride, but the ending was a huge letdown. Did Gillian Flynn get so tired of writing that book that she quickly made up an ending just to meet a deadline...??!! Wow.

So after spending about 3-4 days of my life invested in that horrid story, then having to read the waste of an ending, I threw the book against my bedroom wall and screamed for someone to get all those wasted reading hours back. I would much have preferred to read my daughter's "Frozen" story book a thousand times than read Gone Girl.

Then in a foolish move on my part, I paid twelve dollars for a movie ticket hoping the movie would redeem the book. Ha...I was even angrier at myself for wasting what could have bought me a Big Mac on that dumb, nonsense movie.

Well at least I got a glimpse of Ben Affleck's ass. That in itself was worth the twelve bucks.

I think I might have missed the first couple minutes but there was a twin??? I don't really remember someone swearing a lot. That says a lot about me.

The flaccid Affleck-peen was bigger than I thought it would be, so thumbs up, I guess.

Major plot holes, and in the end it was just a book about a woman scorned---=kind of boring.

I've read Gillian Flynn's other two books. Both are good. Admit to liking Gone Girl but the ending was a bit of a letdown.

BTW cursing doesn't bother me at all, I do it. This was just over the top with no context or purpose.

Her character bothered me several times during the movie, 1) when she was telling him to fuck his wife, slap her with his penis, there's wood - who talks like that with their sibling???, and 2) asking if the underwear is super twats, and 3) talking about masturbating into a cup. Seemed way over the top for a sibling relationship. She distracted me.

How could you miss the twin? She has a pretty big part and is through the whole movie. There is a scene talking about "twincest" right in the middle, showing them together.

When I saw Juno, all I could think was that Jennifer Garner's and Jason Bateman's characters were probably like Jenn and Ben in real life.

They're a little creepier than Gone Girl but are good reads.

Maybe PP forgot that the sister was supposed to be Nick's twin because the actress who played her is almost a decade younger than BA. Totally highlights the double standard in Hollywood when it comes to age ,as does the fact that Amy is about 5 years older than Nick in the book yet the actress cast as Amy is 6-7 years younger than the actor cast as Nick.
