| 15:23- I was told the exact same thing by Dr. F. I am also moving to him from SG. He said he'll have me on half the dose of meds that my SG doc had me take. |
Yes, but again--it is just a guess. If you go through cycle 2 on less meds, you might stim longer and still have a failed cycle. So then guess what? Next cycle they will change things up again, increase meds, etc... The most common reason for poor ass quality eggs is being >38/39 yo. Good luck to you though and I hope cycle #2 works out for you! |
| Dr. F is great. I'd give him more than one cycle shot if you have a chance. He will often make major changes from one cycle to the next. I got pregnant on cycle #2 with him. |
| OP here. Thanks 14:01, I guess I will see how things go with Dr. F. It's so reassuring to hear your success story with him!! |

OP, I'm glad that you are feeling more confident after seeking second opinions. After several unsuccessful rounds at CFA, I ended up switching to Dr. F. I know that GW doesn't have the same reputation as out-of-state clinics, but Dr. F really impressed me with his knowledge and thoroughness. I had a somewhat strange set of symptoms, and he tracked everything down meticulously. One can never say for sure, but he recommended a corrective surgery (which I also had at GW with Dr. Robinson), and I got pregnant 2 months later from a fresh IVF. DD is now 20 mos, and I'm having a FET tomorrow using an embryo from that round.
I basically can't say enough good things about Dr. F (he's seriously one of the best doctors I've ever had for anything)...so I hope you find success with him as well. |
I am 20 weeks along and was at GWU for my anatomy scan yesterday. Stopped by to say hello to him and the staff. He gave me a huge hug and we talked for a while. He's just such a genuinely warm, caring person who really cares about his patients. |
| Curious to know how this turned out for OP and the other posters. |
Bump. Also wondering how things panned out. OP's detailed post was very helpful for me, but alas, no success yet. |
bump bump |
| OP, thanks for the informative post. Please keep us posted. I used to go to SG for my IUIs but couldn't sign up for IVF with them because of the cost, and because I was not too convinced my RE knew what she was doing. |
I know this is very old, but I wish OP would let us know what happened. did she find success with GW, or did she go to CCRM/Cornell? |
| Not OP, but we did 5 cycles at GW. First was full stims (with EPP), then Lupron flare, then 3 mini stim cycles. No success, but I really appreciated GW's willingness to try tweaks I suggested and change up protocols completely. They had a good understanding of DOR and were also very realistic with my odds. I had insurance coverage, so kept going until that was exhausted even though I knew it was probably pointless. Happy to answer any questions, though we stopped treatment about 2 years ago pre-COVID. |
| How old are you? What is your AFC? How many follicles respond to meds? |
