Venting : First IVF : Too Many shots?

PP here who drank a glass of wine to get me through - I was under no restriction to not drink during the stims. After the transfer, yes, then they told me not to drink/exercise/etc.

FWIW, I now have an amazing, smart, exceedingly healthy two-year-old.

I am terrible with needles to a degree that it very nearly kept me from doing IVF at all. I discussed it at length with my RE and he gave me meds that could be combined into a single shot per day, and I always skipped the PIO in favor of the vaginal inserts.

I've stopped drinking, personally, because I read in "It Starts With the Egg" that women who drank at all even in the weeks leading up to an IVF cycle had much poorer outcomes. It was enough to scare me straight for awhile, at my AMA. And I figured I can have all the wine I want when I'm done with this shit someday.

But I would never judge anyone else who has to do what they do to get through the emotional and physical hell that is an IVF cycle.

I very much hope you don't mind the injections and find them to be no big deal like many of the women who posted here. I will say that I was terrified of the injections, and I found them very hard to get through. They do not hurt, but if you're very fearful of injections, it can be really hard to psych yourself up for the 4 shots per day that I was on. I offer this not to scare you, but to tell you that you're not unusual or a wimp if the shots remain a big deal to you (even though everyone else is saying they were easy for them). Good luck! Wishing you an easy cycle.
