temper pedic mattress - ok for pregancny, co-sleeping babies and general?

We liked ours but got rid of it after four years because it got more and more uncomfortable. They don't last very long - ours developed body impressions very early on and Tempur wouldn't replace it because they weren't deep enough. And yes, the off-gassing is terrible. We couldn't sleep on it for two weeks after we bought it, and then it continued to off gas for at least another month after we bought it. And you can't put a mattress pad on top to help with the smell because then it doesn't mold to your body heat.

For that reason alone, I wouldn't get a new one with a co-sleeping child.

Also, the foam top is very adsorbent - which means any fluid that spills on the mattress gets soaked in. Bad for bed wetters, postpartum heavy bleeding, and your water breaking

This is actually a really good point - you can't put a mattress protector on the bed because it will make the bed less comfortable (the protector limits your body heat from contacting the mattress underneath). So you'll have to risk spills/leaks/etc....which then makes your mattress stink and of course invalidates the warranty.

It is incredibly firm, but molds to your body. Since the baby is so light, it doesn't really mold to him so it stays very firm.

The BIGGEST PRO is that it doesn't transfer movement at all. You know in the commercial how the girl is jumping on the bed and the wine glass doesn't spill? It's like that. A better ad would be to show and mom getting out of bed without disturbing sleeping baby next to her.

As for sex, I noticed no issues. Any cons are quickly dismissed because the sleep quality is excellent. Fully rested, no sore joints. Totally worth it.

That would be a horrible ad, since you're NOT SUPPOSED TO BEDSHARE WITH INFANTS.

We got a knock off from Pverstock for $500, Slumber Solutions with cool layer. I love my bed! I've suffered before in beds that develop sink points and have uncomfortable coils. I refuse to go back to that.

I fall asleep more quickly and deeply with my new bed.

Seriously, guess people care more about mattress brand than the fatality rate for infants in the same bed as parents. If you care about your baby's safety, invest in a co sleeper.
