The pharmacists who have to do these shots would definitely NOT be advertising them. It's their least fav activity.

I agree! But, corporate loves it. That's why they promote it so heavily!

CVS customer service will and did give me the information. Why don't you go online and get CVS customer service and ask them if flu shots are available? Pharmacists do not give flu-shots, it is a nurse who does it in the minute clinic.

I don't think it's advisable to get the shot this early. We usually do first week of October.

Incorrect. Some pharmacists do give flu shots. I had to go through a pharmacist at CVS (not minute clinic) for weird benefit at work once. I learned that you have to call ahead and see the pharmacist on staff (at that time) does shots and then go in. But they put shots at the end of their priority list (behind filling Rxs).

You can roll your eyes all you want, but you're wrong. Pharmacists can and DO give flu shots. My DH gets his shot yearly from the pharmacist at Harris Teeter - where there are NO nurses, and no minute clinic. I have also gotten flu shots from the pharmacists at Giant and at CVS.

And, yes, pharmacists don't consider it at the top of their list of priorities to give flu shots. There's been a huge push by these companies to do them, so they are forced to go along. Just like in most of health care, most health care professionals don't have much say on how they are allowed to practice. (but, that's a whole other can of worms)

Hello? yes I have to support this. I'm sorry but Pharmacists DO give flu shots. They aren't always the best person for the job (zero bedside manner etc) but they do it!

I have had a flu shot from a pharmacist in the past.

So, getting a flu shot early in the season does not impact their efficacy later in the season?

What else should one do to get ready for school medically - Vision test? Hearing test?

We got ours at Rite Aid, by the pharmacy

As long as they have had their annual pediatrician appointment which should have included a hearing and vision screen, no need to do anything else.
