iPhone Redirects to Appstore
In this example of a redirect, the flow of connections went like this: 1) pubads.g.doubleclick.net 2) ad.turn.com 3) 300x250.net 4) 300x250.net 5) 300x250.net 6) tracking.crobo.com 7) ads.ad4game.com 8) adtrack.king.com Adtrack.king.com redirected to the Appstore. All requests and responses for each step are included below: |
It happened to me three times today, all on an iPhone. Twice to the app store and once to this site: https://king.com/?advertisedAppId=33 |
King.com is the culprit. I've alerted Google and I've also tried to block that address from being served (don't know if that will work or not). |
I just got re-directed 3 times from family! Once to App Store, once to kochava, once to adds.addstore.something I didn't catch. This is after I cleaned out safari! |
Yesterday I tried to block the advertiser that caused the redirect and also provided my research above to Google. Last night, Google asked me for more data. This morning I got redirected one time and then made another tweak aimed at blocking the advertisers that provide the redirects. Since then (about 8 am), I haven't been able to get a redirect. That is about an hour of browsing the site.
If anyone gets a redirect from now on -- after 9 am on Friday, August 7 -- please let me know. If you got redirects before that time, it is not necessary to let me know. |
3:10pm. Redirect on my iPhone just like the first on you described in the first post. |
Me too. 3:40pm. |
Redirected just now. To draft kings of some game on the App Store. So frustrating. |
Redirected just now to App Store, last redirect in the chain was https://king.com/?advertisedAppId=33 |
And again from http://c.afftrx.com/?s=1420659&tid1=bdcd6393f9e106c362fd&subid=5674 |
Just an update. I did a complete capture of traffic for the last redirect I experienced and have provided that to Google. The issue has been escalated within Google. Ironically, my wife just suffered a redirect from another website while browsing with her iPad. So, this is not limited to DCUM.
I explicitly blocked king.com early today. Therefore, it looks like the blocking rules aren't working. Google's engineers just gave me another suggestion for blocking which I will implement now. |
I was just redirected to an ad site and came here to complain, but I guess it isn't your doing? |
I just heard from Google that they were able to correct this issue. Please let me know if it occurs again, but hopefully it won't be a problem now.

Still happening to me (home now so plan to update IOS on e pics are backed up.)
Setting Safari to Block cookies = always (vs just third parties / advertisers) helps a lot, though of course that means good cookies like the ones to check in to a flight via email don't work (took me a while to figure out that's why I was getting a 'session timeout' error). Butone just snuck through a bit ago so not a complete fix. And I seem to be getting sent to a broader array of a ads too. Will pay attention to what they are, but they've looked different and Gilt was one of them. |
