At least some had messages in there music at that time the current music has no message and as misogynistic as that period.

I'm also not interested in this but want to recommend Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest - a great documentary that came out a few years ago.

Easy E was a musical genius who is often overlooked due to how he died. So excited to see it!

You cannot really be this jawdroppingly stupid. They couldn't just say light skinned black women wanted to play video vixens and dark skinned black women wanted for character roles? They had to rank it from A to D in order of skin color and connect skin color to beauty, class and values? I think you know exactly what is wrong with that casting call and you are just a dick who doesn't care how women of color are treated.

Regarding the casting call - I could see if they were trying to accurately portray the types of women in their circle at the time, but when you look at the old videos you see the girls are a variety of hues, some had long hair, some short, some had weaves, others did not. Also find it hilarious that Beyoncé is only a B girl (so who's an A?) and they specify no weaves for that category. SMH to the entire thing.

I'm AA 45 year old woman and I loved me some gangsta rap back in the day. It's hard to believe Ice Cube and Ice T are mainstream. Will definitely watch when it comes to HBO.
"Ice Cube's a PIMP." Cant believe I used to listen to gangsta rap because my radio is permanently stuck on KidZ Bop radio now.....and I'm liking it.

I so can't wait for this movie! I'm a Cali girl and am just going to try to compartmentalize the controversial stuff... NWA was part of my childhood soundtrack! (Before I really "got" what they were actually rapping about.)

i was excited to see it until my husband informed me that now women are mad and bringing up an incident of dr. dre's hitting a lady journalist ages ago.

This was Dee Barnes and it looks like it won't be in the movie. There were also stories of him beating on Michel'le, let's see if that makes the final cut.

OP here. You have a limited worldview. Plus, I never said I am white. I'm not.
