Trainwreck, the movie?

As an aside, I saw she was the only writing credit (or listed as "written by"; I didn't stay for the full credits). How does one get that credit? I always hear about writing rooms filled with teams of writers. Do they all not get credit, or did AS truly write this on her own?

The movie was mediocre. If you watch the trailer, you will have seen most of the funny bits. They were too afraid to let a woman carry the movie so they added a bunch of sports cameos (which, apart from LeBron, felt pretty lame) so that men could comfortably go see it.

Also, I'm tired of lame jokes about white characters being uncomfortable when a black person is in the room. It's just tired.

It's pretty common for a screenplay to be written by just one or two people. I think when you hear about writer's rooms that's usually for tv shows.

Haven't seen it but I just wanted to say: more gross- out humour please.

I have a smart/stressful job all day and want to be able to be dumb and LOL at stupidity at least sometimes. I don't need my movies to be lofty and erudite. This isn't freaking Oprah's depressing book circle.

That said I thought Amy S was charming and I have a huge crush on Bill Hader. The chemistry was cute between them. Just wish these gross out movies could bring it down a notch. Can't imagine seeing this movie on a first date! Sitting in front of me was a mom and a dad and their daughter who could not have been more than 15. Weird! I couldn't sit and watch those raunchy scenes with my child!!!

They are called R-rated comedies. They were almost extinct. I for one, am glad they're back.

I loved it too. I really liked that AS included a dad with MS into the story line of the movie because her dad in real life is in a nursing home with MS.

And thumbs up to Apatow for having a truly diverse cast. After seeing that YouTube channel where the guy splices together all dialogue from characters of color, it was a bit refreshing that it seems there's an effort being made...

I actually had the opposite feeling regarding diversity. Yes, there were black athletes, and the black doctor's aid (who inspired the co-worker to remark that she had once dated a black man -- I guess that was supposed to be a funny joke?), but the "diversity" seemed a little token to me.

I felt like that was part of the joke, wrt Method Man, at least. For many white people, diversity is a little token. In any case, Lebron was a 3d character, and his penny pinching was cute.

She is really odd looking. Not attractive, not ugly but weird pointy chin, no lips and some really really effed up teeth. I was so distracted by every close up showing those two freakishly long front teeth. They are like three times as long as the adjacent teeth. I liked Hader but just don't seem as anything other than asexual.

This. I also agree that the movie was very mediocre, and that I had seen most of the funny parts in the trailer. There were stretches of the movie that I thought were just boring, and some scenes that I didn't think were funny at all (eg the scene near the end with the intern). It wasn't offensive to me, just unfunny). The sports cameos--yawn. And, why? Just filler for a thin, thin script, nothing more. It's a big leap from short sketches to screenplay.

That said, I thought Bill Hader was absolutely charming, and A.S. was good. They would have been great in another movie, lol.

I did love A.S. with the cheerleaders. She's really very talented.

IOW, pretty normal.
