Strategy for using interior decorator without breaking the budget?

So many designers are now offering design-in-a-box services, including many well-regarded ones. You send dimensions, accounts of furny that will stay, and pics of style you like, then they send you the design and tell you how to implement it.

I know Lauren Liess was doing it, but there are many others. Just google it.

I swear I don't work for this company, although I am acquainted with one of the owners, and I read the blog for ideas. This could help?

We hired a highly regarded interior designer and regret it completely. Initial meetings and communications were great but went downhill after the contract was signed. She became pushy about selections and it was as if she had no idea of our budget, which was not exactly tight. For our sofa, she gave us two possibilities; one was $11,000 and the second option was & $12,390-- that was before fabric selection and her 25% purchasing fee. Comical. We ended up spending 70% more than we had discussed and are not crazy about the end product. I guess there are worse problems to have in the world.

And that designer would be? I would like to avoid if possible.
