Something tells me OP is gonna be JUST FINE with the amount of diversity at SWS. Welcome to DC OP. Best of luck to you. |
| OP, what is your budget?! |
| Hearst. |
| Ludlow-Taylor |
Yup, this. If kids are already in elementary, you need to buy with an eye towards middle and high schools. |
OP says she doesn't plan to be in DC past elementary school. |
Then it doesn't make sense to buy. |
| buying is a waste of your money for less than 5 years. |
Starting in PK3 gets you 8 years in DC. |
| Ross. |
+1. We walk kids to Hearst and then metro from Tenley or Van Ness, depending on weather. |
Another +1. Especially if you want a small, close-knit school. Downside is finding housing if you don't want an apartment. But if you have the $, it sounds very close to what you are looking for. |
Not necessarily in DC. We have owned our Petworth row house less than five years and it's appreciated $350k. |
it's just luck though. We bought in 2010 (near bottom of market) and lost money after agent fees. owned 4 years. |
that said, I think 8 was the magic number for us - when our miniscule appreciation turned into us breaking even. this is DC btw. not everything, and espeically not older condos, appreciate |
