Age gaps and friendships

That's not really much of an age difference - you are all in your twenties. Plus women are usually more mature than men. They don't have to be your soul mates - just be cordial.
I'm really not understanding the issue, OP.

If you actually believe this even after spending some time on DCUM, not sure what to tell you.

Listen, I'm a feminist, I *like* women, but the idea that women are more mature than men in any way, shape, or form is just a thing older guys say to a girl when they're trying to get laid, it's not reality lol.

I didn't mean in general, I meant in their early twenties.

+1

I'm 43 with close friends from late 20s to mid 60s. My husband is 5 years younger.

we have friends at all stages of life. Some 30 year olds act older than the 50+ year olds. People are individuals.

I met DH when I was 26 and he was a few months shy of 25.... So now I am 5-10 years older than many of the wives.

I am fitter, olive skinned and the most athletic wife so it's not really a self-esteem problem---the women are all very fun.

And I'm 45 now--so the wives are late 30s. It's less of an issue now.

Was it an issue when you were younger?

No. It's weird but several of the women were mature (but fun). DH and I were probably at the same stage in our early 30s (very into bars, travel, etc) as they were in their mid-20s. We delayed having kids until I was 35 because we had a lot to get out of our system.

OP, try not to be focused on their ages - just talk to them and try to find common ground. Remember, everyone's favorite subject is themselves.

I'm in my late twenties and have had friends/acquaintences in the past few years ranging from their late teens to their mid-fifties. I try to get to know people.

Previous statement still applies.

OP, yours is not a very large age gap in numbers, but... I do think that people generally shouldn't settle down until they've had about 5 years after college to grow up, do things for themselves and get stuff out of their systems. A lot happens in that 5 years of living on your own after college, away from parents, etc. There is a natural difference between someone your age, who's been out if college for 6 years, and someone who is just out.

LOL you're absurd. Did it ever occur to you that women form these ideas about the sexes themselves? We dont need to hear it from a man to think it..

Really, OP?

I married at 23, a man 18 years older. I've never had a problem socializing with his brothers, SILs, friends, who are all within 10 years of his age. He has never had a problem socializing with my friends, whose ages span decades. My best friend is 15 years older than I am, actually.

Please mature and broaden your horizons, OP. You sound very narrow-minded.

Am I the only one who finds the idea of this nubile young 23 year old fucking a man nearly twice her age to be extremely hot?

No, I like the idea of the opposite scenario though. A young, nubile 23 year old fucking a woman nearly twice his age.... YUM!

I like both scenarios. The upside of being bi.

OP, I think of this as I'm talking to guys who are younger. That's in the back of my mind, being the oldest. I'm certainly over the club phase.
