Inside out for a 5yo?

I'm not taking my 4-year-old because I think it'll go over his head, but since PG means "parental guidance suggested," I think the folks who are bringing their kids are certainly within their rights, especially if they do their research and consider what's best for their child. There are very few quality G-rated movies nowadays.

Tangled? Annie (1982 version)? Shrek? Frozen? Honey I Shrunk the Kids? All PG.

Well 1982 Annie was back when parents would take their kids to any move the theater would allow them in, but I still think people get caught up thinking, 'oh, an animated movie' and then take their child to something that is at best confusing or at worst upsetting.

Same here. She can't wait to see it again. She talks about her feelings and her islands all the time. It is really great for little kids! And of course I loved it. The other day she surprised me by saying she had sadness, fear and disgust all together. And she needed joy

Our DDs are the same age, and she loved it, too. We just saw it this weekend. We talked about the messages afterwards and have had some great conversations. Of course, like all Pixar movies, there are some adult references that go over kids' heads, but it doesn't break the flow of the movie.
