riding equipment

There is also a tack shop in Darnestown called The Surrey. I've sold a used pair of boots here, so I know they sell used items.

I started riding at age 4 and continued showing, etc until about age 20/21.

You'll definitely want to buy new boots (not high boots, the lower, lace ups will be fine), a helmet, and possibly a pair of riding pants because jeans might give your kid saddle sores.

Are you thinking you want your kid to start showing? Thinking of leasing your own horse/pony? If so, I would buy any show outfit stuff used. I didn't get anything new (other than boots and helmet and basic riding pants) until I was closer to 13/14 and had mostly stopped growing. It was around that time that my mom bought me my first new saddle and I still use it today (I'm 32).
