I've lived in 12 different states, and there is something awesome about every single one. But when you need a job it's not a bad place to look!

Exactly, when you have the biggest employer in the US in the DC area, that says enough right there.

wal mart is in arkansas

Wal-mart is the largest private employer.
There are more US Federal employees than Wal Mart workers.

Moved back to DC after having completed undergrad studies here and moving elsewhere.

But only moved back for work; would love to escape DC. The crappy attitude of most of the people, the aweful traffic, the horrible climate, the insane costs of living - it's terrible.

Hopefully someday we can - maybe even before retirement.

The access to international airports and quick jaunt to Europe, the diverse worldly community, restaraunts, the East Coast corridor, great privates and publics.

Exact opposite - I moved here for grad school/career, can't wait to retire and move back West where I belong.

In terms of car crashes, DC tops the entire USA for the most accidents.

Nope! Been gone for a couple of years and though I'm embarrassed by my state's (Texas) politicians at time, I love it here! Bought a 3BR/2BA house with a big backyard in a nice neighborhood with good schools for the same amount a friend bought a studio condo for in DC.

There are things I really miss about DC - mostly the walkability - but I still end up there a few times a year and just dealing with the Type A personalities that clog that city remind me of why I moved away.

Which state?

Yes, we moved away and back again. Didn't like the sprawl of the other city, the lack of interest in current affairs or general lack of education, the lack of real seasons, etc. While the traffic can be a headache, I actually like that DC was not designed for and around cars. You don't see one enormous parking lot after another, but can walk along the sidewalk to visit shops and restaurants.

Glad to be back.

I moved to Cincinnati for five years. Very low cost of living, but I couldn't take the racism (and I'm white). I didn't realize how much I appreciated the diversity of the DC area.

I'm currently in Atlanta and thinking about moving back to DC. I feel like I will regret my decision however, as I'm not a good fit for this city, but I disliked the Type A fast paced life I had in DC.
