Weight gain/SSRIs

So even if I cut my calories and exercise more I still might not lose weight on an SSRI, and I might even gain it? (Lexapro is what I'm discussing with my PCP)

This has been my experience, unfortunately. 30 pounds in 3 years. I have been exercising like mad and have my calories at around 12-1400 calories daily. I can only imagine what the weight gain would have been otherwise.

NP with a question. I've been on Lexapro for threeish months and have lost about 20 or so pounds, but I way upped my exercise and eating. When does the weight gain stArt? Is it still a possibility if it hasn't happened yet?

^^ it doesn't happen to everyone. The statistics I've read have suggested about 1/4 of people experience weight gain, which seems pretty consistent with friends who have been on SSRIs. For some people it really slows their metabolism and for others it doesn't or can even cause them to loose weight.

I've been on Celexa for years, and never experienced weight gain. If anything, I lost weight, since my depression resulted in minimal exercise and an unhealthy diet.
