Burglary and sexual assault in Woodley Park

Anonymous
God I find this so offensive that every single headline reads "Woman assaulted in wealthy neighborhood" as if the important aspect of this is that a) it's a rich area and b) near another tragedy.

A woman was raped in her home!

Also, great description on the suspect -- a man in his twenties. That will narrow it down.

Didn't you know? "Things like that don't happen in this neighborhood!"

Again....where are you guys reading that her windows and doors were not locked? I haven't seen that anywhere.

You haven't seen that anywhere because it hasn't been reported.

The PP are saying that because they are assholes who like to blame people when bad things happen because it makes them feel safer.

Truth is, if someone really wanted to get in to your home, short of shooting them, there's not a damn thing you could do about it.

I agree. you are not safe. no body is safe. Now, get on with your life. It is possible even without guarantees. My sister was raped in a similar situation (many states away, many years ago). She is fine and getting on with her life.

Was she actually raped? I saw the term "sexual assault" used but I've also seen that used more broadly like when the offender is touching the victim inappropriately. In some states, the charge is forcible rape when it's a rape, not just the more general sexual assault, but I don't know what terms they use in DC.

Would that make it any less horrible or less mentally scaring?

If it happened to me, yes. An intruder grabbing my tits versus forcibly raping me are different degrees of terror to me.

The DC police Yahoo page says the burglar "removed a window pane and entered through the same." Does that mean he broke it or cut it out?

Former Recon Marine here. Feel free to drop by my house any night you'd please.

+1.

Also, German shepherds. I live in Woodley Park. You can get in my house and attack me and my family, but you will have to fight a big, angry dog first.

This burglary and sexual assualt did NOT occur in Woodley Park. It happened in Glover Park. WJLA is really producing some sloppy and/or sensationalistic reporting. Someone over there is trying to connect this crime with the "Mansion Murders" in Woodley Park to grab more headlines. Ugh!

Not a marine, but if you do come into my home at 4am you better have a good game plan or else it's one shot to your chest with a follow up through your head. I'll then call 911 and tell the police to send over the crew to take the trash out.

Milder than above (not that I necessarily object), but I'm guessing that most people who can afford $1M houses will soon have some sort of video surveillance as standard equipment.

Video won't make crimes like this one impossible, but should make it easier to id perps and get them off the streets (and also discourage others from following in their thuggish footsteps).

Too many Clint Eastwood (Magnum 44) movies for you.
