I'm the PP who cycled at CCRM, and I agree with this. I wish I'd had a consult with Dr. Davis after my first SGFC cycle. |
Can you give an idea as to what types of things they personalized compared to a cycle at SG? |
| OP here. Is Cornell in upstate NY or NYC? I am just about convinced I need to move on from Shady Grove. Although Dr Levens is really sweet and I like everyone there. But now that my diagnosis has changed to DOR, and I'm AMA, I'm just not so sure about SG anymore. To the PP that told me to go ahead and get my records from Shady Grove, THANK YOU! I didn't know it took time and I need to go ahead and be proactive and probably set up appointments too, at a couple of places while I'm making my decision about my second opinion. What do you all think about Cornell vs CCRM? I guess at least Cornell is closer to DC but if I'm going to have to travel, I might as well go with the best odds for an AMA DOR case like myself. |

How exactly are the best clinics determined? Is there a scoring system that factors in different components to come up with a rating?
I've only went to RMSCVA in Charlottesville, VA. I had a few friends that had went there but I did wonder if I should have tried on in Northern Virginia. |

I don't know about best. I was successful at GIVF in Falls Church. After our 3rd try we were able to get pregnant.
My boys are 10 yrs old. |

Cornell is located in Manhattan UES - part of NY Presbyterian hospital.

I'm also at GW with Dr. Frankfurter. 5 failed UIUs at Columbia Fertility. 1 failed IUI at GW. 3 FETs at GW (one bfn and two very early miscarriages). Right now I'm doing a "mock cycle" with Dr. Frankfurter, which involves taking all of the regular fertility drugs and then having two biopsies to determine if there's anything wrong with my uterine lining. No FET at the end of it.
Would others move onto Cornell after this? Could someone post a description of their protocol/timing--e.g. consultation in NYC, 3 day monitoring in DC, ..... I just want to get a sense of how often I'd be in NYC. Thanks! |
| I would love to see a Cornell or CCRM protocol, too- or just to get a sense of timing how long I'd be out of town. Much appreciated if anyone can give insight into this- thanks! |
Depends on your protocol/treatment. For me... visit #1 - initial consult (1 day) visit #2 - testing & co-culture (2 days) cd2-4 - local monitoring visit #3 - cd5+ monitoring, retrieval, 3d transfer (14 days) all follow up at local clinic and via email I could have gone home between retrieval & transfer, but decided just to relax and stay until the day after transfer. I worked remotely for most of the time. |
| So what is so different about the protocols at CCRM/Cornell/SIRM/RMA?? |
| I would love to know this, too. What is the basic difference between these clinics- CCRM/Cornell/SIRM? Are the labs better than locally? Doctors better? Do they specialize in different things? i.e. are they known for treating AMA DOR, male factor, etc? Any advice would be appreciated. It seems like there are a lot of us on here who are struggling with local clinics and are desperate for second opinions and knowing where to go and who to turn to. |
+1. What do they do differently, esp. from local clinics like Shady Grove? And why is everybody so vague here? |
| What I found after going through SG, CCRM, and then finally success with Cornell is that once you have an idea what your infertility issue is, each clinic (except SG- which honestly I found is only a cash cow with boilerplate diagnosis) specializes in something different with different approach that statistically yields higher successes. My main issue was DOR, AMA, high FSH, and slight thyroid issues- which was found through immune testing at CCRM. Everything else was ok. Dr. Davis specializes in AMA and DOR and I found my first real success on the first try after 8 failed IVFs elsewhere. I only had one embryo to transfer and since it was a 3-day transfer it was a shot in the dark because I couldn't do PGS. I had a healthy pregnancy and baby and she is my one and done. This is my read on how they are different. CCRM and Cornell both seemed to customize the cycles much differently than SG, where I was AMA and must do super high stim and that was that. Hope this helps and you find your success, too!! |
| I'm going to Advanced Fertility Center near Chicago (about an hour North of downtown) after two failed PGS cycles at Shady Grove. So far so good. The doc is no b.s. and their success rates are excellent. |
I cycled at SGFC, CCRM and finally ORM. I agree with what PP said. Better labs and customized cycles. I was also AMA and all SGFC did was throw super high stims at me, even though I stimmed just fine. |
