| It really is a shame! We could use more good camps in NE DC but the Y didn't advertise them as being at IT except to ITS families. Which camps are at IT? |
| I think it's mostly the sports ones. Rock climbing, cooking, & swimming definitely at the Y |
| Like OP, we will not be doing the Y camps next summer based on the incredible disorganization that they have shown. If they new in Dec/Jan they would be at ITS, then they blatantly lied to me when I was calling them every week into March once I found out they might not be at the W street location. |
Just looked at meeting minutes. It was actually the Feb meeting they told us that. They did say they didn't know which camps etc would be there but they were planning it. |

We are an ITS family and my understanding is that the Y knew that some camps would be at ITS as early as January, but they didn't know which ones.
Last year, they partnered with Meridian to act as a host for a bunch of the camps at the Bowen location. They planned to do the same this year; however, Meridian would/could not commit space and strung the Y along for months (like, from September through March) before finally backing out altogether - and then the Y scrambled to find another host site near Bowen and placed more camps than expected at Inspired as a result. We (ITS) did not get notification about which camps would be where until late May. I totally agree that it's a problem and I think the Y is in a tough position - they depend on school partners and do the best they can, but could do more to proactively communicate when things are in flux. And I don't think they appreciate the difficulty that those two miles E/W between Bowen and Inspired can add to a family's commute/transit/etc. |

OP here. I agree that they don't appreciate the distance/difficulty. I tried to explain repeatedly between January (when they told me that camps would be at the Y itself) and May (when they finally confirmed that thst wasn't the case). My main issue was the lack of professionalism displayed by the people running the registration, who I won't name but I'm sure you guys know who they are. I have called, emailed and just showed up to ask about this and I have gotten her on the phone exactly zero times and she responds to about every third email with a non response. Then I get a stack of emails announcing that 4/7 camps will be at ITS. If we had other options, we would be exercising them but we don't. Apparently there is also nothing to be done vis a vis complaining about the lack of communication on the issue.
The transportation issue is actually particularly laughable given how easy the Y is via public transit and how impossible it is via car. Exactly the opposite of ITS. |

I found out on Friday for a camp that starts on Monday. Pretty shitty if you ask me. Then when I tried to arrange the extended hours, the one person who could handle it left early. She basically sent the email and left.
Annoyed is not the word. |
I do think the lack of commitment from a partner school near the Y contributed to the poor communication. |
