Am only seeing sweet cherries in the store and i need to make a pie

Pie cherries are called Montmorency cherries, yes? They are smaller.

Does your DH even like cherry pie? Buying enough fresh cherries for a pie will be pretty expensive ... Make sure he will eat it first!

he loves cherry pie! And DD once saw him devour one (which is hilarious in it's own right b/c he looks like Flat Stanley) and that memory stuck with her. Pure joy and happiness.

OP here - thanks for the farmers market suggestion. DD and I walked to Van Ness farmers market today and bought tart cherries! Thank goodness we have a pitter. That's a lot of cherries.

Go buy some more for freezer! A cherry pie at New Years is a tradition in my housE. I did see that butlers orchard is picking this weekend. They also are taking orders for next two weekends.
