If your school doesn't have beforecare....

Our before care is free. Is that unusual?

Wasn't it a factor in deciding in where to apply? Why even apply to a school where you can't make it there on time each day?

It turns out that the people leading our tour gave our group the wrong information. We were told 6:30 and even had a discussion about how that seemed very early.

I'm faced with this predicament as I just accepted a new job.

School opens its door at 8:10 as well, but I would need to drop the kids off someplace by 7:30. I could ask one of the parents or teachers aide, but is $15/day fair?

1. It's your kid. Are you seriously trying to low bid this thing?
2. Do you have other options? It's fair if you have no other options.
3. Does it allow you to keep your new job? I bet $15/day is worth it.
4. Why on earth would you crowd source this?

Thanks!

Find a neighbor / friend who would be willing to watch your kids in the am and take everyone to school and pay him/her? Negotiate new schedule at work (e.g. give up lunch/stay later/work remotely in evening)?

+1 or share a nanny with another family during that time.

OP what school are you talking about? and how old is the child?. I was faced with the same decision when it came to me but there were alternatives that I found after a lot of searching but later I didn't choose the school and decided to keep my DS where he was instead.
