| When they are old enough to manage the care of pierced ears themselves. My mom let me get mine pierced when I was 12. I was old enough to know that it would hurt, I was responsible enough to keep them clean, and it was clear that it wasn't just a passing whim. I see no reason to let my kid do it before then. |
| DD is only 3, and while she likes looking at my earrings she hasn't asked for it yet. My minimum age right now is 10, but if she shows great interest earlier and I feel she is able to care for them herself then I may change my mind. |
| 9. Many of her friends who had no interest at 9 got them done at 10. |
+1 and our family is about as far from white trash as you can get |
| She can after 10. |
| Youngest child in my family was 3 months (me) and oldest was probably just over a year.. Yes, yes, call the CPS. I never have seen the issue with it, really. I never even knew that people had an issue with it until friends at school said that they "weren't allowed" to get their ears pierced. Or put nail polish on. Or wear makeup. Or stay up past 8pm ever. Or eat sweets and candy. Or binge eat pizza and other non-healthy things every once in a while. My parents were pretty laissez-faire with all this kind of stuff and I sure am glad for it! Ah well.. to each his own, I guess. |
| Not until she's 10 or so. One of my close friends had hers done at around 3 months. She's now 35 and her holes are gaping a bit, which wouldn't be happening if she had gotten them done when she was older. |
| My son got his pierced at 5. |
Not trashy then, just elitist and judgmental. Nice. |
|
My DD is 8 and wants them, but she can barely remember to brush her teeth.
I have to nag her to wash her hair and forget about brushing it. When she gets her act together regarding personal hygiene, she can have pierced ears. |
How did you get that from my post? Seriously explain this to me. |
Calling someone white trash is the definition of elitist and judgmental, classist, what have you. Nothing new on dcum, but disgusting and trashy anyway. |
The thread this thread is a s/o to stated over and over how anyone who got their children's ears pierced were white trash. |
Yes and I didn't call anyone white trash. The thread this one is based on called anyone who got their infant's ears pierced "white trash". You certainly jumped to a very biased conclusion though didn't you? How judgement of you. Nice. |
| judgmental^ |
