They aren't going to end up owning our country, if that's what you are afraid of. They might buy some property, and if they did it enough it would help real estate prices, but it is really unlikely that they can make a difference.

BTW Americans invest huge dollars in Chinese companies. Do you think they are afraid of us owning them?

I don't think they are afraid of us owning them. Because if we ever owned so much of China that they got seriously worried, they would just change the laws and repossess all foreign owned property. Don'tcha think?

Does the OP mean that US should enact the modern day "Chinese Exclusion Act"? What that Chinese buying housing in US have anything to do with Chinese government, or labor practices or manufacturing standards?

God I hate igonrance.

buy when we are down on our knees

ummm, have you ever wondered why for the last 10 years, your clothing is so cheap or the prices at Walmart are so low? Its because you are taking advantage of countries like China being on their knees. Do you seriously think these people want to work for $15 a DAY.

Before you spout something so ignorant and flat out stupid, try something new and think.

China keeps the U.S. afloat. They buy our debt. That's what we should worry about.

I don't buy any thing from China. The quality sucks. So it is not stupid or ignorant.

You make blanket statements but you don't have any knowledge or understanding of what you speak/write. Have you ever read or been educated on basic economics? Do you know how the foreign currency markets work? Have you heard of international trade? Don't waste people's time with you simplemindedness.

To clarify some of the questions about ownership of Chinese land/real estate, the answer is YES. There are numerous Westerners, including Americans, who own real estate in China. There was a huge real estate boom and tons of Americans and other foreigners invested and speculated in Chinese real estate. Americans and Europeans buy billions of dollars of foreign real estate every year. Gosh, I have to say I'm shocked by the ignorace here.

No, I don't. They could, but that's not the reason why they aren't afraid. We are funding companies developing new and exciting things, and they like it and encourage it. It is good for their economy. They want the foreign investment. We also want foreign investment. If foreign nations did not buy our debt, we would be screwed. Screeeeeewed. Guess who owns a whole bunch of it? China.

I'm not shocked by the ignorance here. I'd be shocked if Americans were actually aware of facts outside of US soil that is generally common knowledge in most parts of the world.
