She's excellent. She will tell you like it is and won't sugar-coat anything. Along with a comprehensive multi-paged report, she sends you away with a detailed list of interventions and referrals.

Office is in Chevy Chase/Bethesda area very close to Friendship Heights.

Thanks for this information - this sounds like what I am looking for.

18:08 here. I should have also added that its been my experience that whenever a psychologist or other specialist reviews DS' files, they already know who she is - either by reputation or through direct contact and always comment on her reports and on how skilled she is.

Like I said -she isn't going to sugar coat anything so if you're looking for a warm and fuzzy, "grandma type" you won't get that with her. Not that she's abrasive, she's not. She's just very matter-of-fact, clear and concise. That said she is excellent with kids and knows how to interact with them which is all I care about.

Good luck OP.

Julie at Integrated Therapy Services is great and she is working on handwriting issues with my son.

I second ITS- all the therapists are extremely talented and they do work with older/elementary kids. Seriously check them out!

Thanks for all of the referrals. We started with Sensational Kids and the sessions to date have been great. I really appreciate everyone sharing as I feel that if I need to move in another direction, there are good resources at my finger tips.

we originally did our assessment with Lynn Balzer-Martin -- she was 'fine' and think her assessment was generally on track - but found she was too set on the strict use of diagnostic tests vs. the practical implications and she way 'over' diagnosed him on some other things -- wish instead I had gone directly to Sensational Kids where we ended up going for OT. Not sure they do 'older' elementary kids tho (not sure their age range).
