Math reasoning in 5th grade

This is not occurring at our Center school. The 5th graders took the IAAT already (in January) with the 6th graders.


These are just the fifth graders who were already accelerated beyond the other AAP kids and taking math with the sixth graders?

How would a current 5th grader suddenly jump to Algebra 1 in the Fall unless they already were taking 6th grade advanced math this year (ie 7th grade math)? They would then be technically skipping two years of math over the summer (ie 7th and 8th grade math)?

That is why it is a bad idea. Only a math wiz should be doing this or it is a set up for failure.

Yes. These are the 5th graders who join the 6th graders for math (and have all year).
