Assistants are pissing me off - how to handle?

My boss thinks everything has to be done HIS way so I have stopped offering suggestions - he's just going to tell me how to do it anyway so why bother. I'm not lazy or dumb, I'm just fed up with being micromanaged and told how to do things like I'm a child. I know have the attitude of just tell me what to do and I'll do it. Maybe if you approach your assistants with the poster's approach you will find out what's really going on.
