People you hate on trails, sidewalks, or other outdoor exercise venues...

Echoing multiple PPs: anyone who is not considerate of others on shared trails. "Mindful" means staying to one side (and seeing that any animals or children in your charge do the same), moving in a predictable fashion, and passing safely and courteously. And of course not littering, which includes dog droppings.

I find it annoying when walkers or runners are wearing headphones or earbuds tuned so that they can't hear anything around them, especially if they are not keeping to one side of the trail.

As for bikes on sidewalks: sometimes the sidewalk is the safest. Example: Memorial Bridge. The sidewalk is triple-width, and NOBODY would be happy if the cyclists used the road there.
And in other place the road is better for all concerned. There is no one-size-fits-all.

Unleashed dogs. Really. This is not the place to go off leash no matter how well behaved your dog is

Opposite - but same issues. I hate going to the national mall to enjoy the monuments and getting glares from the Tour de France cyclists who hate "tourists". Hint - cycling at the mall = slow. If you want fast, go elsewhere.

I can't stand adults who do this. I've stopped moving out of their way

Not with you on this one.

We live close-in and to get to done of the trails we would have to be on extremely busy, fast roads with zero shoulders. I'm not putting an 8-year old on those--that's stupid. We are very respectful,, go extremely slow and dismount and push the bikes if the sidewalks are crowded.

Same.

People that walk 2-3 abreast and don't move for others... So everyone else has to step into the grass so they can keep chatting.

After last weekend, I feel like I need an "I survived running on the Mt. Vernon Trail" t-shirt.

SO many jackass cyclists.

Slow down. Stop. Be kind and considerate when passing people, and DO NO WEAVE IN AND OUT. There is actually a speed limit to the trail. It is NOT your personal training ground.

However, I've taken a risky move. Instead of running on the far right of the path, I started running more in the center. Or, to the center-left of the "lane."

That seemed to actually encourage many of the really jackass cyclists to slow down and pass appropriately, by waiting for traffic to clear in the opposite direction. A couple were still hell bent on not slowing down, but it did make a number of cyclists re-consider splicing through trail traffic.

Dog crap everywhere! Revolting and vile and so, so gross.

W & OD is the worst. Also, dog owners, must your dog be at the absolute end of its retractable leash?

People who wear all black capri pants and t-shirts, and then act annoyed when drivers and cyclists don't see them sooner.

No. The answer is that you have your kid WALK his bike on the sidewalk until you get to the trail. There should be no bike RIDING on sidewalks, even by kids. My toddler has almost been hit several times by kids wobbling by on a bike. I also have an older kid and he walks his bike to the park before mounting it.

The bottom line is that, in good weather, it's going to be very crowded outside.

Be extra courteous and civil, please.

We were out on the Crescent trail this morning wrangling a tiny beginner on a bike, and everyone was very understanding. Thank you.

Cyclists who disobey traffic signs and signals put on trails specifically for them at road crossings. Hard to teach kids to obey rules when adults blow by. There are several 4 ways stops (2 for those on the trail) in Herndon and cyclists routinely ignore them. Near the old train station the trail has a stop sign but the road does not -- in this particular case the bikes/walkers are supposed to yield to cars -- cars yield if someone is already in crosswalk.

Yes!!! Why can't they just wear sweat shorts and a tank top? I hate the outfits they feel they have to wear. Even hate the half zipped up shirts . Plus lthey always act they're so entitled on their stupid bikes.

My kid is 10. We bike to the trail that is 1 mile away. We take the roads and sidewalks less traveled.

Bike shorts have special padding in them--those narrow bike seats get uncomfortable between the legs if you are just wearing "Sweat shorts."
