Front door color and hardware?

We have a brick front with a dark green door. That's a really common color combination. That being said, I am really liking the black doors that people have these days. They look really nice.

Dated to what period?

What finishes are dated vs not dated?

You see all different finishes when you look at photos on Houzz - nickel, brass, rubbed bronze....

I have nickel satin doorhandles, what color should I paint my front door
I'd probably paint it either a charcoal color or a muted grayish green with brass hardware (not cheap stuff). That may be too tame for you. If you want something bolder, deep red. Just stay away from garish colors.
I normally love sage green with anything, but the new owners of my red brick colonial childhood home painted the door this color with cream trim and it looks AWFUL.

The design principle that I've always heard is that visitors should not have to search for the front door--that it should stand out from the rest of the house. I agree that red would be nice.

Grey, wood or light yellow
