Those with braces, do you care what color the bands are?

My teen has chosen some of the most ridiculous colors in the past 2 years of having braces. During football season, it's here favorite team colors, Christmas gets green and red, etc. Sometimes it's cute, sometimes its awful. Never once did I care. She has to walk around with it, not me.

As long as it's not a full set of lime green or lime green and yellow alternating (those look like food caught in the braces), I don't care. One always does a rainbow, takes a new picture each time to compare the pattern.

DD just got her braces on today. She's a little later in getting them at the age of 17 because I couldn't afford them before. However, I wanted to make sure she went off to college with a beautiful smile and all the confidence in the world.

Because she's so much older than most kids I opted to spend the extra money for the clear brackets. I figured they wouldn't be so noticeable and she wouldn't have the emotional impact of having a mouth full of metal.

I laughed when she came out sporting teal and purple bands! She's got her colors picked out for the next year!

SO glad I spent the extra money to hide the treatment from her friends *sarcasm!* Oh well... I'd rather see her having fun with them instead of feeling embarrassed for needing them. They're her teeth. She can pick whatever color she wants!

My kid changes the color everytime he goes -- up to him -- his mouth.

I had braces for two years....this was the ONLY redeeming quality about those awful, awful office visits (well, that and having straight teeth!).

I love the colorful bands! My DD always does something in line with the season (Easter colors, Christmas colors, homecoming colors). She's a rising senior, and her class color is yellow, so she just asked for all yellow bands. I think they look strange, but I don't care. She has fun!

If you're having trouble with the color of her braces bands, you're going to have some tough years ahead.

I let my kid choose her colors, but I did gently suggest no yellow because they looked like yellow teeth.
