Is a lemonade stand tacky?

Yard sale - kind of tacky but fine once in awhile.

Lemonade stand - 100% awesome. Very "little kid summer" so makes me happy to see them. And I do not mind at all if the kids are keeping the money so long as the price is low (25 to 50 cents an item).

We have a rule in our family, one that has been passed down for generations that we all obey:
NEVER pass a lemonade stand without buying.

Oohing and aahing over how good the lemonade is, admiring the sign, and complimenting on how well the change was counted out are all pluses.

Totally fine to me. I always buy from kids having a lemonade stand. I don't care where the money goes.

They are illegal6 in Fairfax county.

Love lemonade stands and make a point of stopping at them! I agree though not to mention what the money is for - I always assume it's just fun pocket change for the kids!

Then just as the General Pickett they admire enough to name a large street in the county after... I shall rebel and purchase lemonade!

No, seriously, I'd love to see them try to shut a lemonade stand down, haha.

Its charming and I'm not American either. I love lemonade stands.

Make sure that you provide the kids with change (lots of quarters) and an umbrella to sit under.

I think it is a cute idea.

Reason #278 not to live there.

Thanks all! DH will be with them the entire time. I'll have a friend with me running the yard sale. Thaks a lot for the encouragement. We're all excited for them

Now, you SHOULD recognize that this is a learning exercise for your kids and not charity for them. So no pressuring friends and family to buy the lemonade and no being annoyed at people who walk by without purchasing. But unless you do either of those two things, there's nothing tacky about it.

this.

I love seeing kids running lemonade stands. I always over pay and tell them it tastes great simply because I remember my own lemonade stands. Sitting out there FOR EVER getting 1 person an hour but it was so much fun and I loved it when people were friendly. Getting a tip was such a big deal

It's so refreshing to read about a kind person that does something to make a kid's day instead of being a surly curmudgeon. Kudos to your husband.

Oh no. I'll tell the little kids in my neighborhood to watch out for the police next time I see one. ?

+1. This is what we do - give extra because we admire their pluck and willingness to sit outside in the heat for a couple of bucks. It's cute! Go for it, OP.

+1 We do the same, although some of the kids in our neighborhood also sell their mom's delicious homemade cookies. We eat those!

There is nothing tacky about having a yard sale OP.

You get to recycle your items to someone else who would enjoy them plus you get to make some extra ca$h. I say win win.

The lemonade stand idea is cute too, just make sure it is a warm day so the need is there.

However, these days, I think there are laws and permits that need to be considered prior.

Now that is tacky.
