MILs: do you blame DILs for lack of gifts?

If there is no gift or card, then it is my fault and I'm a horrible DIL. If I do get a card or a gift for my in-laws and send it on behalf of our family, then DH gets a call and is praised about what a wonderful and thoughtful son he is (even though its my handwriting on the card or package, etc.). His grandparents are the same way.

I have to just laugh about it. Sometimes his grandmother will say to "thank [me] too" because she gets it, but never his parents. They never give gifts or send real cards. Once my FIL found out that you could send e-cards for free, that's all we (DH included) get on birthdays, etc.
