| Why would they put her in a wig? She has great hair on real life! |
| Alicia wears a wig. Her hair is naturally curly and the wig helps protect her hair. |
|
I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't know about the $10,000 Alicia wig. I read its because of her naturally curly hair. Instead of straightening it daily for such long hours, and risking the humidity messing it up, she wears a wig.
It's also easier to do flashbacks. They simply go back to the wig from that season. |
But I don't get why Alicia can't have curly hair. |
| Finally a little peek of Alicia vulnerability. Everything falls down around her and she finds some comfort from her husband of 20+ years. I like that story line, which seems more "real live" to me, so it definitely won't stay going in that direction. I might have to quit TGW -- again. |
JM decided from the beginning that Alicia was someone who would not wear her hair curly. |
Wigs don't "protect" your hair. They have her wear a wig to give her a shiksa hair do. |
| I am dumbfounded that Alicia wears a wig. It looks so natural. She doesn't have bangs - you can see her hairline - and that is fake?? Wild. And how do they tuck her thick long curly hair up underneath - wouldn't there be a huge lump? Geez, makes me want to wear a wig. |
The wig protects her hair from having to be straightened/flatironed/whateverthehell you curly-haired people have to do to have the shiksa hairdo every day. |
I also liked this angle of the story. They're friendly now, able to support each other in their ambitions. You can still see the distance between them due to the hurtful past, but they're able to come together on the periphery. Seems more Clinton like than when they were feuding and hurting each other's campaigns. |

Can we please discuss the hair brush?
What does the long shot of the hair brush in Kalinda's apartment mean? That she left on her own and tried to stage a break-in? |
Yes, straightening curly hair is hard on it, especially if you did it on a regular basis. They gave Alicia the straight hair b/c it looks more first lady-ish. The only politician's wife I can think of with curly/wavy hair is Barbara Bush and even she often straightened her hair. |
