What age to stop using aftercare?

God help the kids you teach!

We've been very happy with our ES aftercare so we use that through 5th although DD comes home on the bus two days a week, when DH or I are working at home. DS is in 6th grade. He tried the MS after care at the start of the year but hated it so we decided to have him just come home. He's alone for a couple hours on those days we don't work at home, less 1-2 days when he has an after school activity. It's been working out fine.

Also,we debated dropping extended day for 4th grade DD since her brother is home but she loves having that time to play with her friends so it's worth it to us to keep it.

We will use it through elementary (5th grade). While I would trust my child to come home, realistically I don't think he's be as active as he is at aftercare. His friends are there, he has access to games and toys and activities he doesn't have at home, and does NOT have access to TV or electronics. All good.
