| My DS got a 129 on COGAT, 129 on NNAT, and 117 on WISC. He's very shy though... |
Same here. My ADHD son's CogAt was much lower than WISC. |
| My daughter who has mild ADHD BOMBED the Cognat and scored a 142 on the WISC |
|
Our kids were identical. But:
If you have a kid that's easily distracted though, the WISC is a much better tool and the scores can vary by 20 or more points. Primarily because the WISC is individual and the questions come when the kid is ready. On the CogAT, a kid that is a fast processor, and easily distracted is at a disadvantage because to them, there is a long period of time waiting for the slowest kid to finish. It's easy for these kids to completely miss questions. |
| CogAT 146 and WISC IV 149 |
| CogAT 143 WISC 139 |

I am confused because my 5th grader got a composite sore of 128 0n the cogat with a stanine of 9 and did 9th and 10th grade work throughout the KT, which is another test specifically designed to identify gifted children, but got an average score on the wisc. Why does the wisc eliminate the results of the other two tests?
. |
| Iq tests are individual administered tests given by a licensed physiologist vs. a group administered test. |
128 on the CogAT is a VERY good score! It is just not the top 2% in Fairfax County. It is probable 128 would be the top 2% in most US cities, just not in the DC Metro Area either. There are many theories on test prep'ing and one IS that the CogAT and or NNAT scores would be higher than the IQ score. No idea if this is true or simply bs... |
| What is 118 FSIQ? I believe that is average if I am not mistaken |
100 is average. http://www.wrightslaw.com/advoc/articles/bellcurve.pdf |
|
For my son, same score for CogAT and WISC.
NNAT: 147 CogAT: 141 WISC: 141 GAI: 145 My friend has a DYS. The same score for both too. NNAT: 160 CogAT: 157 WISC: 157 GAI: 165 |
Thanks for the link. Is that the standard breakdown of IQ levels? I always thought scores between 100-120 were considered average. FSIQ of 118 probably would yield a favorable appeal.... |
| PP here. Meant to say FSIQ of 118 would *NOT* yield a favorable appeal decision... |
| Probably not. |
