Look- it's possible they didn't know he was 30. He doesn't look 30 in the pics. Maybe they needed a 4th and he was a friend of a friend. When I was living in NYC I had male roommates I barely knew.

Well, when I was in Grad school, one semester, when I was almost 30, I had two undergrad roommates.

Well, when I was in Grad school, one semester, when I was almost 30, I had two undergrad roommates.

When I was in college, my roommates were also undergrads. I recall thinking at the time that a 22-23 yr. old. TA in a class was OLD. I would def. not have lived with a 30 yr. old male as an undergrad.

eh, I dated a 28 year old when I was 19. He had lied about his age and said he was younger than he was and I believed him. I wound up staying with him even after I found out his real age. So after a while I was an undergrad willingly hanging out with a 30 year old. It happens. I would imagine that I would have shared an off campus house with an older student roommate too if the situation was right (I knew him/her through friends).

By focusing on how this could have been prevented, as a way to reassure ourselves that it was preventable and won't happen to us or our children.
But on a college campus there are undergrads, grad students, etc and I don't think I would have blinked at the prospect of a 30 year old roommate back when I was a college student living with different people each year.

Sounds like she was a very lovely young woman, so sad.
