How much do you pay for homeowners insurance? I think I'm getting ripped off

I pay waaaay more than all of you for a house worth about $500k - but not in DC so the comparison is probably irrelevant. I'd love to pay $1750 OP!

We have nothing other than normal insurance - no extra flood insurance, no extras in terms of replacement value. We have an alarm system, fire extinguishers, etc. House is 2200 square feet in McLean. A few years ago we were paying $1,100, so it's gone up significantly.

What are others paying? Is it just me, or is $1750 too high? Would also appreciate any recommendations for a more affordable company. TYIA.

Which company is this? USAA tried to charge us way too much so we switched to erie.

Tucker insurance.

Is erie an insurance company or an agent? I just filled something out to get a quote but all it did was send me to a page with 4 insurance companies (GEICO, etc) where I had to fill out the information all over again for each company.

Philadelphia and I don't know the number offhand but $2800ish. Cheapest we found.

Erie is a company. I think some of their agents are independent and also sell other insurance, so that may be why you got that. I can't remember how I started with Erie, whether through corporate or an agent.

I would call around. We switched from USAA to Nationwide. We pay about $800 which was cheaper than USAA. But the experience of switching the Nationwide was hell so I wouldn't necessarily recommend them.

Can I hear more about this? I currently have Nationwide for my auto and renter's but we are buying a house and will need to switch the renter's to a homeowner's policy. They gave me what seemed like a decent quote and I haven't had any problems with my other policies so far but I only switched to them last September.
