Rosemary Hills vs Somerset

LOL, I would make the case that Somerset has similar diversity to Rosemary Hills. About a third to half of classes at Somerset have international students who are often from diplomatic families who live in the apartments in Friendship Heights. They welcome their fair share of Joses, Tyrones and Catarinas. Somerset is by no means homogenous at any level. It is wonderfully diverse.

I see no need to pay a premium to live in silver spring and send my kids to school with kids that live in Bethesda. If you want your kid to hang out with kids from Bethesda, live in Bethesda.

We had this same choice to make last year and we picked Somerset. I visited RH and thought it was a nice school. But, overall, I was happier with Somerset. And we've been thrilled there. It's a really great school with responsive, approachable teachers and administrators. The kids generally are quite welcoming and I would think that a new student would integrate well. My child's class got a new student in October and he's making friends just fine.

I've had two kids in Rosemary Hills, the school is now a ridiculous zoo. I don't really understand why people are always squawking about diversity. My kids pretty much made friends with the kids that lived close to them, which were easy to have playdates with when they arranged them on the bus ride home.

CCES will not have 6th grade past 2017, thank God, the principal is certifiably crazy too. If I had a choice I would choose Somerset over RHPS/CCES in a minute.

I would choose Somerset. We bought a house zoned for Rosemary Hills before we were thinking about schools and decided to go private instead. I have several friends and neighbors who started at RH and transferred their kids to private b/c they were dissatisfied with RH.

Rich, diverse kids--Somerset; poor, diverse kids: RH.

This thread is ridiculous. Both schools are great and there are pros and cons with both. Our son and neighbor's' kids and many friends all went to RH. We all had a great experience and no one pulled their precious diamond out. We also really

I don't understand your point at all, bit just wanted to point out that Somerset isn't in Bethesda either.

We pulled our child out of CCES and know a number (at least 5 that I can think of off the top of my head) of people who pulled kids from RHPS or CCES. HGC at CCES is good, other teachers outside the HGC vary widely in quality. Principal is a bully. If you are pretty sure your child will need/get into the CCES HGC, I would stick with RHPS/CCES to avoid having to transfer later. Otherwise, I would choose Somerset.

I don't understand your point at all, bit just wanted to point out that Somerset isn't in Bethesda either.

While sumerset isn't technically Bethesda it is for all extensive purposes it is and the elementary school doesn't just pull from the village.
