Women over 40 - best way to get fit quickly?

I went to the gym and because I have strong legs, my trainer put too much weight on my back and I have had a nodule on my left ankle ever since. I am walking and resting and its going but for about 5 weeks it was tender, painful and I couldn't walk much.

And I am 46 - you need to take a little more care and not be fast and reckless with yourself.

Agreed the best way to get fit quickly is to not do it quickly.

Google HITT workouts. You can find printouts, YouTube vids and dvds. If you do it right, going all out with high intensity, you don't need to do long workouts.

This or cross fit - hands down. I would go to a gym though.

I am not sure what your fitness ability is, but the fact that you said that you don't have self-discipline or time makes me think some of these advanced workouts may not be for you.

I would start by changing your diet. I am not sure what your daily diet looks like, but if you can change some things to lower the amount of sugar, and eat cleaner you will already be on the right track.

Next, I would walk. Just start by walking around your neighborhood. If you can do more, great! As you get stronger, start some easy weights. My point is gradually work your way to more intense exercise. You will feel great, and actually start to look forward to your exercise time.

Diet is the key. And the tone of your post -- showing that you really dislike exercise and lack self-discipline -- indicates that you just need to figure out what is somewhat pleasant for you and do that. I really don't think you're going to be able to stick with something intense like Crossfit. Maybe pilates or Zumba if that sounds appealing. Or watching TV while on a cardio machine. It's better than nothing.
