Brown University is a GREAT school but very selective and much harder to get into than her other choices.

What does LGBT have to do with it

UMD. It's not away, but why leave DC to study political science? UMD has the national archives on campus and 10 minute subway ride to congress.

University of Chicago could be a great fit for her. So could NYU.

There are lots of Jewish students at Georgetown

Yes, a sizable amount of Jewish kids go to a Catholic University. I would love to see the stats on that!!!

Women's Studies and an interest in Smith College? I took a small leap.

A very small leap. DD is gay and a junior at Smith majoring in psychology and women's studies. So is half of her class.

I wonder if schools are becoming less diverse with all the social media and Internet. Schools now seem to be labeled quickly as "a jock school" or a "LGBT friendly school" or a "preppy school". So with the internet it seems people are so concerned with "fit" and finding people like them that soon the schools will be less diverse.

Why not leave? Some people actually like to go away for college.

Agree with the pp's who say stay in the area for the best Poli-sci internships and career opportunities.

Women's studies - what does one do with a degree in Women's studies? How many people have to die and free up a job for someone else?

Political science, I can see.

700 self-hating Jews at a Catholic university of over 7,600 in undergraduate (not counting law school, med school, graduate schools) alone is "sizable" to you? LOL

You're a peach of a person...and we wonder why this country is so divided - it's because of fools like you...get over yourself.
