35 here and buy a new pair every two years. I have yet to find something better for commuting in the winter.

You should check out the Ugg web site. There are plenty of styles that aren't as clunky and that aren't the same as what "the kids" wear. I found a nice, very warm pair this year that look like normal boots.

I am 46 and I have been wearing them every year for the past 9 years. I couldn't give a rats ass what the "kids" are wearing nor would I steer away from that. They keep my frigging feet warm and they are comfortable. I will continue to buy them every two years until I drop.

They are ugly, but I'll admit, I (50 y.o.) throw my daughters on when I'm running out for a quick errand, drop off, etc. They are quite warm and comfy and so easy to slip on.

I don't know why its even an issue in the DC area. Its not exactly a place for genuine "fashion".
