? what do you mean? |

Early Decision -- Binding applicants meaning if you are accepted, you will attend unless $ issues. |
Not so. Foreign students are making it harder for American students to get into American universities and colleges due to the numbers applying. |
Calling BS. The only people who have heard back from the Ivies as of a few days ago who didn't apply early and got likelies/are recruited athletes so they know they're in. |
+1 there is a cap on international students. |
why do you assume these posts are from the same person? Sounds as if the second post is from someone whose child is already in college, and the first post doesn't mention IVY |
Hello reading comprehension. The first poster didn't say Ivy. I'm the second poster and since I reported on how my DCs college experience has gone it obviously was last year. |
PP - you are misinformed. While schools love international students (they bring cash), they are not fighting for the same spot as your kid. They are in a different bucket. |
If they were not there at all, there would be more spots for citizens. So just because they are not fighting for the same spot, the fact there is a total finite amount of spots does make a difference. |
That sounds SO wrong. |
I like having foreign students on campus, I feel it enriches the campus. At many public schools, foreign students do literally enrich the campus, and have additional fees beyond just OOS costs. My main issue is when the students come from countries with a seriously high rate of known testing irregularities. I think they should be retested upon admission |
Did I accidentally click on the Politics board? |
I promise you, that you are not alone Same thing with my D who was rejected from an Ivy that everyone thought was a sure thing, an outright rejection, ouch! I think I was more traumatized than her by it, I walked around like someone died trying of course to be upbeat when she was around it was horrible!! But then the silver lining was she got into another school which was a second choice and she is having the time of her life never looking back. I promise you things WILL get better and that means it was not meant to be or maybe it will if he gets off the wait list! This really makes them tough and is a true life lesson which they all need. Sending a virtual hug and nod of understanding. |
Northeast. They are chosen more often, have had much better results for selective/competitive programs in the northeast. In the south, eh, they get passed over. Many of their FCPS classmates go south. Bloom where you are appreciated!! |
