s/o No, I am not happy with MCPS

My kids have been in public and private schools all over this country. We move every 3 years. We have five kids. The oldest is 26 and the youngest is 16. MOCO is the only place we've ever lived that the schools were so bad we felt we had to leave. We pulled our kids out and homeschooled the remainder of year. We bought a house in Fairfax the day our lease was up. I am NOT the homeschool type, but there was no way my kids were staying in MOCO schools. I felt that strongly about it.

Thankfully, it's very easy to homeschool in Maryland and our homeschool coordinator (from MOCO) told me she sent her kids to private school. We love Faifax County. The difference is incredible.

Yes, that's always the response -- if you say that you are happy with MCPS, then you must be either ignorant or on the MCPS payroll. I think that this response displays the respondents' blinkered understanding of the world.

Can you explain how Fairfax is different than MCPS. They seem to be comparable to me.

I am totally happy 4 kids, one a senior going to an Ivy, a sophomore, doing well, twins in 7th grade and thriving.

Maybe your kids pick up on your neg. vibe and are Debbie downers like you and don't want to do the work.

Can you give some more information about this? What year was it that you were in MOCO schools? What exactly did you find so bad about the schools? Was it the physical condition of the schools, class sizes, teacher quality, curriculum, peer group? Very curious about this, as I have a first grader and have so far been satisfied but have no basis of comparison with schools elsewhere.
