Australian shepard rasied from a a puppy/young dog - any experience?

Completely agree. I rarely think this, but your kids are too young for an Aussie. The dog will do anything to herd the kids, including nipping. Then you get into the annoying "the dog bit the kid, do I need to put him down?" argument.
