The reason you see so many from the Blair magnet is because

1. it is the only program that gets students from across the county. For example, the Blair winner hails from North Bethesda.
2. Blair pushes kids to find a mentor for their senior research project and pushes them to enter competitions. Take a look at the available courses at Blair and you will find that there is no way you could get the background to do the research these kids claim to have done.

This is a perennially odd argument. The Blair magnet program is AT BLAIR.

(Bonus points also for implying that the kids didn't actually do the research.)

Nope. Poolesville gets students from a very small segment of schools. The Blair magnet gets kids from, Bethesda, North Bethesda, Potomac, etc. Poolesville doesn't push Intel as much as the BLAIR MAGNET.

And yes there is a difference between Blair and the Blair Magnet.

And yes, there is a difference between Blair and the Blair magnet program. Blair is the whole high school. The Blair magnet program is a program in that high school. I would draw a Venn diagram, if I could figure out the formatting.

I don't understand the Poolesville-is-better Blair troll's fixation on demographics -- as though any program at a school that is not perfectly demographically representative of the school is actually not at that school. It's like saying that Whitman actually not an MCPS high school.

They would rather teach in a more diverse school with less parent involvement than one with more involvement
