As of 2010 I heard they only had 9 openings for K for the fall. Still haven't heard.

Blessed Sacrament is a parish school that nearly always only can offer spaces to parish members. It has a very strong community and a solid reputation in terms of academics. 9 out of 10 years it is nearly impossible for a child of a non-parish member to be offered a place in K. For that reason alone, many non-parish members don't even waste the money to have their children apply. Last year was most unusual in that there were less parish members with children applying for Kindergarten, but don't let one year fool or mislead you into thinking it is easy to get into. Last year was the exception not the rule and the reason for the open spots was not due to any deficits related to the school, but simply very few families apply who are not parish members.

The bottom line is that no one outside of the parish or the surrounding 2 blocks of the school applies there.

We applied there. Not active in the parish and not in the neighborhood. Haven't heard yet.

Yes, but are you considered members of the parish, whether or not you're active members?!
Anonymous
Nope. You need to donate "time, talent and treasure" to the parish on a regular basis to be considered active. Exact words.

Yes, but you are still members, whether or not you are active members. Perhaps you will not be given priority for admission b/c you are not donating "time, talent, and treasure," but I would guess you would not have applied if you were not at least "inactive" members of the parish.
