Yes, Clinton used a private email account to communicate while she was secretary of state. But so did secretaries of state before her. According to the State Department spokesman Marie Harf, John Kerry is the first secretary of state ever to rely primarily on official State Department email.

Condoleeza Rice didn't use unofficial email accounts, John Kerry is not the first.

Not to belabor the point, but this is pretty weak grounds for describing the article as "pathetic". Are you suggesting that Brock misquoted Harf or that Harf was wrong? What is your source suggesting that Rice didn't use unofficial email accounts?

You're reaching on this one el Jeffe

"Secretary Rice rarely used email during her tenure at State. On the very rare occasion she did, her State Department email was the vehicle for official communication," the source said, adding, "She did not use personal email for official communication as Secretary."

I'm sure her account could be FOIA'd, as it's probably been preserved.

Let's review Brock's final suggestion:

Step Four: Upon further examination, the story falls apart.

I eagerly await this story falling apart.

This article also says that Rice used official email when she was doing State business. I read elsewhere that she seldom used email for government business. Smart woman.

So, apparently you are describing this article at "pathetic" because you believe a correctly-quoted State Department spokesperson was wrong. You have decided that the official spokesperson is wrong on the basis of a single anonymous quote. I do not believe that I am the one "reaching".

There is a legitimate controversy in the email story. That controversy is that Clinton intentionally took steps to avoid her email being exposed to FOIA. However, the "story" as it is being presented is is much larger than that with some predicting prison time and all sorts of other imaginative scenarios. The larger story does appear to be falling apart. I would guess that Brock is not wrong about Step Four. We just haven't reached it yet.
