anyone not hate formica?

Me, personally, I like the durability of granite or quartz, and having an undermount sink is actually the most important factor of all (can Formica have one?). But it's your kitchen and you like it - so keep it.

AFAIK, you can't do undercount with Formica, and I agree that that is the one major drawback.

I like real linoleum flooring, too, so maybe I'm just a Luddite.

I really really dislike granite -- so navy formica sounds like a win to me. But really, anything better than mottled granite, where you can't see the dirt and crumbs. It's gross. I have it in my kitchen and my husband never cleans up after himself and he claims he can't see the dirt. Because he can't.

If you like it, why would you replace it? Seems like a silly question to me... who cares what others think? If you're planning to sell soon or don't like it, then change it.

We have navy blue granite-look Formica, and many people think it's stone of some sort until they touch it. It's 10 years old and looks brand new.

Isn't that why the rest of us love it?

My husband literally put coffee grounds on our quartz samples and voted for the one that they showed the least on.

If formica were newly invented it would be horribly expensive and everyone would be lining up to buy it.

We had it in our kitchen for 30+ years and it didn't show a bit of wear.

I love formica too, when its a fun pattern that isnt trying to be anything else.

I love the look of solid black Formica with wood trim in modern kitchens.

But I know what is considered formica counter tops is very different now a days. Basically, if you like the look of it, I wouldn't give it a second thought.

(I would be very careful with using trivets and clean up possible stains like coffee or wine right away, but that could be my perceptions based on the traditional formica.)

I have this table in red I also don't like granite but am not wild about Formica either. My ideal counters would be a thick slab of butcher's block.

I love the retro table and like PP I like real linoleum. Makes me think of my grandmother's kitchen.

Didn't everyone's grandma's kitchen have that table? It makes me miss Grandma, but still not liking the table.

We just blew out a load bearing wall in our kitchen and built the wall back with custom cabinets and since my DH is the cheapest man on the earth, I had to make some concessions. We went with an Ikea countertop, a satin black formica, and it's gorgeous! We've received a ton of compliments, because most people thought it was wood. We spent a fortune on the cabinets, a bright white with black hardware, and the black countertops fit nicely. I ended spending 5 times as much on the backsplash. We purchased the newest countertop Ikea released in January.

It's actually really uncomfortable. We got it as a wedding present. We've had lots of offers from friends who'd like to buy it but I can't let go quite yet.
