and they haven't bothered to even change them since 2015. |

I don't think it is adviseable.
My kid just graduated. At leat for her, four AP/IB courses was her personal upper bound junior and senior year. That still leaves three periods to fill with (hopefully) enjoyable courses that aren't as taxing as BC calc. Personal finance was perfect for her as a senior. She did wonderful things during the summer, usually not in Arlington. With EPF over the summer, she'd have been stuck here, and not gotten the break from APS she desperately needed to recharge. And Mr. Burns is lovely. What is the hurry? |
But you still have to do the work... |

My older DC took EPF during the school year and found it painfully boring to have for 90 minutes at a time. An easy A, but there were more interesting (non-AP) electives to take. Maybe some teachers could make it more engaging, but hers did not put any effort into it.
Younger DC took it pass-fail in the summer and spent maybe 6 hours total on it after realizing how easy the tests are and how dry the material is. The test questions are mostly common sense and questions are repeated within the same test. I think he got about an 88 without ever looking at the course materials beyond the first few modules. I think FCPS students who entered high school in 2015 or later are required to take at least one course online, and this filled that requirement for him. |
And it’s an unweighted A... |
I don’t get the stuck here all summer thing. My kid did two weeks of morning string camp, about 2 hours of EPF in the afternoon. M-F x 2 weeks. July 4 off. So about 18 hours. And she is a rising freshman and a rule follower, so she completed every module. |

Good info to know about the online class..A pass doesn't count towards your GPA but a fail counts towards your GPA.
|
There is really no way to fail the online class unless you actually forget that you signed up for it and don't even attempt the tests. |
+1 Same for the W!SE test. |
